i'm getting a 7950 gx2 and my board isn't supported, long story, anyways i am deciding between two boards this board gigbyte_intelchipset seems to have some really nice features as well as support for intel and amd processors but i don't think it supports SLI, which isn't a problem at the moment because there isn't any consumer support for 7950 gx2 quad sli but it will most likely be then there is this one gigabyte_amdboard which is also really nice minus the really cool features and has sli, it has just the norm
The Intel board does not support SLI, but the 7950GX2 would work if you're only trying to use 1 card and not 2 to have quad-SLI.
oh, yes i realize that, oh coarse i need two cards, i was saying that in the current , nvidia doesn't support quad sli for consumers, only threw manufacturers, like falcon northwest or whoever, anyways back to the mobo issue, i was hoping for some opinions
well from what i've read, you don't need sli ready boards correct, just a boards that has the bios updated to support the card, because the 7950 kind of emulates sli because of the dual cores, so that why when you have 2 seperate 7950's its quad sli, but yes no bios update for my board its dumb but my fault.
well friggen A, since i'm a careful reader i, managed to stumble over a lot of details, as well i don't think i can affored to purchase a new processor and board so, it would have been the AM2 board but now its just some other socket 939 board that will work for now, without high def audio and true dual x16 PCIe and a chipset that doesn't get really hot and overworked, lol anyways solved
Well, if you have a 939 setup with PCIe, jumping to AM2 is a dumb move at this point in time. Secondly, unless you're going for quad SLI, dual x16 PCIe slots will net you nothing in terms of gains.
