Major Xp Pro Problems

I was trying to restore my PC to a different time using the system restore feature when it switched itself off (it does this sometimes due to a small power supply or sumthin like that). Since it happened midway through the restoration it has messed up something majorly. Whenever I start the PC it gets to the XP logo loading part and just when it's about to switch over to the part where you log in, it restarts itself and the only way I can get into my account is using the safe mode. help please

 

Hmmm...nasty, i've had this problem before but mine was due to a power outage!
Try restoring it while in SAFE mode, now while this may or may not work in your case it's worth a try.

 

I forgot to mention, i've already tried this. I've also tried typing MSCONFIG into 'run' and then disabling the start up item...needless to say it didn't work hah:

 

Have you tried the Recovery Console or the Windows Repair features?

 

How exactly do I get to these. I should also meantion that it's a pirate version of XP pro that i've got so I don't have the actual disk with XP on it, however, I do have a copy of the disk on my hard drive.

heres what you need to do:

- BUY a copy of windoze OR use linux (ubuntu linux is quite friendly)
- put your hardrive into a USB caddy and remove anything important like letters etc [you will have to find another computer to plug the caddy into)

 

I manage to fix it
I went to the MSCONFIG, then the services tab cleared every box. Then I could get into my account, although it was with limited options. So I went back to the tab and kept adding as many boxes back as I could until my comp acted normally again with full graphics capabilities etc.

 

Yeah HWF doesn't support Illegal software, naughty-naughty.

Too late, Ross is banned. We don't support nor do we discuss pirated software here, and we don't appreciate insulting others who are donating their valuable time to help you. Maybe there are other forums out there who will put up with that kind of thing, but not this one.
