When i try to play a video i have green squares and lines going through the screen. Anyone knoew what the problem is?

Could you provide us with your system specs, including brand/model and driver versions ? Alternatively, you can submit your system specs by clicking on the "My computer" link, that way you do it once and don't have to worry about it ever again. Or just give us the computer brand/model if it's an OEM (Dell, Compaq, etc)

A screenshot would also be very helpful. you might not be able to post attachments due to your low post count (not sure), but there are a few free image hosting websites that can host them for you. ImageShack® - Hosting as an example.

Does it happen exclusively when watching videos or does it happen in games too ? Have you tried different players ?

My first assumption would be that your card is failing.

ill post a screen shot in a bit, but ive noticed that it happends worst with WMV. MPG it is distorted but then i can expand the video window and itll be fine. With MOV nothing happends to it. Im certian Codec's got messed up somehow, maybe a virus?

(yes he got hit in the nuts)

Well at least u can watch some films. I can watch any film i download but put a normal dvd in the drive and it locks my system up. sure its something to do with decoding and copyright protect.

Ive only had that when the video file is dodgy or the codecs need sorting.

Ive never found a codec which always works. I tend to just install and uninstall codec packs until I get one that works when I need it to work!

That used to happen to me specifically with divx files. I am pretty sure it was a codec issue. Try donwloading this codec pack. It disables the other codecs you've installed so no need to uninstall them if you don't want to. It also includes zooomplayer and media player classic. Since then all files have worked for me. hope this helps. combined community codec pack

Yes, I have this trouble in Linux (Mandriva), using Kaffeine, but video playback in XP is great, especially in WMP 11 (beta).

I had put it down to my crappy onboard graphics, but given what I have just said, that would not make sense. Are there some codecs I could use for Linux?

This worked, everthing work fine now, thank you

EDIT: Noooooooooo its back!!

Did you try the VLC media player? (if you have windows) that is a very good codec pack, It definatly sounds like you have bad codec, and I would advise trying VLC.
