Good day all,
I own a Dell Dimension 3000 circa Winter 2005 running Windows XP Home. I upgraded one of the sticks of RAM for Christmas so that I am now running 1.25GB up from the 512 in it. Installation went fine and the computer recognized it. Here's the question.
When I went into the BIOS I noticed that the only speed setting for the RAM was 333MhZ eventhough both sticks (original and new) are clearly marked 400MhZ. Thinking this might be a problem with an out of date BIOS, I flashed the BIOS to the latest provided by Dell and tried again but the setting was still static at 333. Are there additional steps I need to take to ensure the computer recognizes the full speed of the RAM or is this a limitation of the motherboard I am using?
Thanks,
Erin
