If your Dell is in warranty, i would recommend buying your memory from Dell, if it's not in warranty Dell tend to use Kingston CL3 memory in almost ALL their computers whether DDR or DDR2.

I fix alot of Dell computers as they are so popular, and it seems to me that they just put Kingston CL3 in all their machines.

Your best bet to find out is to goto google and search for "Everest At Home", download this program (a very informative system information tool, run the program and click on "Summary" then "Memory" this will tell you your memories running speed (PC3200/PC4000) and it's latency timings(3-4-4-8 1T / 2-2-2-5 1T) e.t.c..
