I've done a search on this site to see if anyone else has run into this problem with the same hardware profile and it appears no one has, so here goes:

    Asus P5B Deluxe mobo
    Core 2 Duo E6600 (oc to 3.0GHz)
    4 Gb OCZ DDR2-800 RAM 5-5-5-15 timing

The problem is only 3 of the 4 RAM sticks are being recognized by the OS. I've tested each stick individually, in sets of two, and all together. The problem doesn't follow any particular stick - it seems to be the fourth bank on the mobo. It doesn't seem to want to play. I've air cleaned it and reseated the RAM numerous times, but no joy.

Funny thing is, I run a program like System Info (by Gabriel Topala: SIW | Download) and it comes up with four sticks in the system.

    Any suggestions?

32-bit operating systems only detect 3-3.5GB of ram

you need a 64-bit os if you want to use it to the full potential

Thanks Ashton. I just did some research on the web (see Ask Dan: What's with the 3Gb memory barrier?) regarding what you said and it looks like I'm hooped if I want to stay with XP 32 bit. And I do. Ah well.

    Cheers!
