put more memory in my hp ,now it wont boot up did everthing the instructions said whats the problem. iam running windows xp-home thanks george
Are you sure you put in memory that works with your motherboard and that you plugged both sticks in all the way? Also, was your computer unplugged when you worked on it?
yes i did the computer was plugged in.i bought 256 of sdram 168-pin from memory for all i had 128 in it left it there and inserted the new memory.after it did not boot up took the new memory out and it booted up just like it did withe out the new memory.do you need pairs like 128 and 128 or 256 and 256mg,or can you have one 128 and a256 in the other slot
No, you dont need the same size ram, but ram does run at different MHZ and maybe your motherboard doesn't support the speed that the new one runs at. Also, are the both SDRAM? I think you should get the new RAM that is screwing everything up and try it in somebody else's system to see if it works with theirs.. If it doesn't, you should return it (providing you have a warranty) and get a new stick.
