I just bought a mic and plugged it into my comp and the mic doesnt work, I have tried useing it in CS and I have tried useing sound recorder. Any suggestions on what to do? It is a Platronics audio .90. ~temporal~
Ok first of all, make sure it is plugged in the right place, which would normally be the pink connector. After that, you probably have to enable it via software. For instance, with my sound card, I had to open the eax console and check the karaoke box, then unmute the mic volume (because it's muted by default), then I can uncheck the karaoke box. After that, on your headset you should be able to control the volume and the mic (on or off). Make sure it's on. I have the audio .80 and I like them very much. The only drawback is that after a couple of hours, my ears hurt a little. I would guess that the audio .90 are more comfortable though.
Thank you harrack. Heh, I should have check my software before i went whinin' on the forums, but I was wondering. The sound works when I do test hardware under sound and other audio devices in the control panel, and I can hear my self through the headphones (at least its not broken), but if I try and record through sound recorder, it doesn't work at all. I haven't tried counter-strike, I will after I get home from school. (I have a cal-o counter-strike preseason match today =) ). P.S. Oh yes and the headphone are very very confortable, the ear pieces have huge cushions, but i have read reviews that say they fall off after a while =(
Then they are a lot better than the audio .80 as far as comfort goes as it is the only thing I would change on mine. If you can hear yourself through the headphones then you might just have to play with the mic volume and outbound volume in vent/TS or whatever you program you're using for CS.
