Microsoft has confirmed that there will be no equivalents of its Windows XP Service Pack 2 to boost security on earlier operating systems.

The announcement leaves the 50 per cent of Microsoft customers not currently using XP with the choice of upgrading or relying on platforms that will become increasingly less secure.

While fault patching will continue in line with pre-existing support cycles, there will be no more operating system service packs other than for XP.

A real pitty, since Windows 2000 is quite superior to XP in every way in which they're different.
 
yeh..i wanna use linux i just don wanna loose all my programs that i have for windows..so im gunna get a new hd and put linux on

That's gonna be a truckload of service packs then...why not give up and start redeeming yourself by giving us all your money, Gates??

WTF?!? Windows 2000 is XP, minus a few very minor changes. 'Designed before the Inter...' man, Microsoft even lies about their own products when it suits them. What a gigantic pile of horse sh**.
