I have a Microsoft MN-730 Wireless PCI card. I installed the software and put the card in. Everything is fine, except for low signal strength no matter where I put the PC, but once I install anything to upgrade the computers hardware, it just flatout doesn't connect at all. First time I put the card in, everything worked like I said. I installed Windows XP SP2, restarted, and the card wont connect and doesn't find a wireless connection at all. Did a system restore and went back to before I installed SP2, restarted, and everything worked fine, except for the low signal strength, like I said before. So since this isn't my main PC and will only be used for an extra PC at LAN parties, I decided not to install SP2. So, I was going to load all my drivers again (I had just reformatted the hard drive.) I started with my nVidia driver for my video card... installed it, restarted, and the internet connection is dead AGAIN. Same as before. Did another system restore and went back to before I installed the video card driver... same thing, everything worked fine, found a connection right away and connected to it without a problem. I am just fed up, any help would be great!
There have been alot of problems arise with installing SP2 by itself, not to mention how damn long it takes. It may interest you to slipstream the SP onto your XP CD. That way, it gets integrated directly onto the install CD and you won't have to worry about it any more. Autostreamer being the easiest to use. If it still doesn't work, don't hesitate to post here.
