I am runninf winxp pro I have a 200gig internal drive and a 120gig maxtor drive in a mobile rack. i can boot from both no problem. When on the mobile HDD ican access the internal, but when i boot from the internal i cant access the mobile as it has to switched off in order for the internal drive to boot. I have found a program called swap manager - which works well with my 2gig hard drive in the mobile rack but not with the 120 Any ideas anybody? Cheers
try setting your boot sequece in bios to boot of your internal one when both are on. if u need anymore help or step by step instructions on how to do this post back. hope this helps Dave :good:
I can play around with the bios no problem - the problem is wanting to access the mobile rack when booted from the internal hdd. Boot priority is rack 1st internal 2nd if rack is off or removed comp automatically boots from internal. I want to be able to turn on the rack hdd and access the info when booted from the internal drive.
what does it do if you boot with the external on? boot from that? go into bios and disable the boot from external device, it should fix the problem.
Sorry i think im misleading you all - very bad at explaining myself. If i play with the bios i can boot as i wish but i dont want to have to play with the bios everytime i want to change my boot preference. Currently if i wish to boot internally i turn off the mobile rack but then the rack is inaccessible - this is the problem i seek to remedy This program "swapmanager" http://www.mobilexperts.com/SwapMgr/SwapHome.cfm?home=bt Seems to be what i want but does not work with my large 120 gig drive but works fine with my 2 gig drive Cheers
Think the problem is the fact that swap manager supplied by ViPowER isnt really compatible with XP or large disks - anyone no any good mobile rack managing software?
