    Hey everyone,

My friend just gave me a few computers that were having problems, and wanted me to make one out of them. I decided to use the newest mobo, the Gigabyte GA7KML (AMIBIOS) and realised is wouldnt boot. No fans, nothing. I changed the PSU, and was happy to see the fans going (They were going full speed, no slowing down.), but my satisfaction was short. I quickly realised that no video was coming out through the vga port. Not only that, but three short beeps would come out ONLY when I plugged in the monitor. I decided to install a graphic card, to try to get an image appear on the monitor. Still, no video (But the beeping stopped). I have tried three graphic cards but to no avail. I tried swapping the ram with many other ram modules, still nothing. There are few things I have yet to try.

    1.)Resetting the CMOS.
This one I'm not too sure how to do, but I'm sure the manual would tell me how.

    2.)Disabling onboard graphics.
I looked in the manual and from what I know theres a way to do that by going into the bios, which I cant do. Infact I believe the mobo wont post at all.

    3.)Swapping the PSU.
I doubt its this, but it could be.

4.)Letting it run for about an hour, maybe letting it post
I read somewhere that sometimes a computer takes ages to post, you just need to give it some time.

If I could get some help that'd be great. :D

1.) there is a small silver battery, size of a quarter (just like a watch uses). remove it, and unplug the power from the back of the case. leave it for 10 minutes to be safe.

2.) if you can't get display, you cant do this.

3.) was the replaced one new? if so, it's really unlikely you got another one that is bad.

4.) after about 2 minutes without a post, it's probably a hardware issue.

CMOS is a good start, but don't overlook you monitor being bad (or the cables).

    1.) Ok, I'll try that

2.) I heard some mobos have jumpers for that, I dont know if mine does.

3.) Nope I took it out of one of the malfunctioning computers, but I'll try it with a psu I know isnt malfunctioning.

4.) I'll let it go for an hour

I have tried it with multiple monitors that I know for a fact that they work.

ok, i looked up that motherboard. older than i thought it would be. It has an AGP port on it, which raises the question what video card did you use, is it new, etc...

also, it could be a bad motherboard, but it's more likely the video.
have you tried testing one of the other motherboards?

No the graphics cards (I tried three of them) arent new, but they arent faulty either, I know that for a fact. I tried them in different systems including the one that I own that works.
