Modem Problems!

    i have a strange problem with my modem, it was working fine and i tried to reconnect the internet again but an error message appeared "your phone line is busy" although i made sure that it is not busy!
    i change the windows and the modem driver but the problem still exist!
    can anyone help?
    i have a GVC modem with a Conexant chipset, HCF v90
    windows 2000 professional

    Make sure that callback services are not active. Depending on your phone service you may ahve to press a different strin of digits to disable it.

    Could be something as simple as your ISP is too busy to take calls so when you phone it you don't get a dial-tone. Try calling the ISP number from your phone and see if you get an answer. Otherwise, simply turning the modem off for a minute or two and trying again can be a remarkably effective technique.
