Hi, A friend of mine gave me his PC to try to upgrade. After hooking it up to my monitor, there was no signal from the PC to the monitor at all. The symptoms are: I hear about 4 or 5 peeps as soon as I turn the PC on and the power light on the monitor is always yellow. I thought the VGA card is damaged so I inserted another one in one of PCI slots but still have the same problem. Can you please help? The PC is an eMachine with WIN Xp as an OS. Thanks a lot Mo
The beeps can help diagnose the problem. Find out what BIOS the mobo is using and then you can find a table whic should tell you what the beep codes mean.
Well, you'll want to know what BIOS type you have (Award, AMI, Phoenix, etc). and then cross-reference it with the resources over @ BIOS Central. Off hand, it sounds like there's a problem with either the memory or CPU, which will stop the machine from POSTing with the symptoms you describe.
