Alright soo im looking for a mother board for the 775 intel board to run the Q9400. Im looking for a board that supports both ddr2 & ddr3 hopefully a 6 slot that way i can add ddr3 later on as the technology comes down in price some. I have two 22" monitors i wanna run so either thinking getting one badass video card or two general ones or to have the option to get a second badass one. Im looking for a board that also has 2 PCIe x16 slots I know asus and gigabyte but what do you guys think of Asrock & foxconn? this is the mobo im looking into http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157136
Don't even touch Asrock lol they are for low budget to mid range and hasn't got really that many good features, you are using a Q9400 which really isn't mid range. I recommend you go for Gigabyte and Asus (btw Asus own Asrock they use them for low-midrange markets and Asus mobos to higher) they are the best. BTW what is your budget??? Foxconn are a good make. i have chosen this one take a look: Gigabyte GA-EP45C-DS3R Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard i cant find one with 6 slots atm but i will look.
hehe thats the one my friend recommended he just used it in his build.... that one is six slots but it doestn have 2- PCIe X16 i think thats what you mean to say im looking for like $1300 to spend on this.
Yes that's what i mean, it hasn't got many features, a pretty basic mobo. I hope you mean that your £1300 is for the entire rig and not the mobo lol
Hay what about this mobo it seems to have everything in order have it also has 6 slots which is what you wanted check it out: Foxconn X38A LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard
I dont know is MSI anygood? theres only one msi boards on newegg with the options that i am looking for. Newegg.com - 6×240pin, 2, MSI, Intel Motherboards, Motherboards and that foxconn seems to have mixed reviews
One of the best one... recomended by most IT technician, the MSI x48C platinum sale at $ 338 here, some say its better than ASUS rampage formula,,,bet you got a better price than any other intel X48 motherboard
im willing to pay $180 if the performance of that board is really that good... its the same price as the foxconn board only thing that gets to me is that its an ATI board and i was looking to get a e-GeForce GTX 260 or 9800 GX2 but maybe a HD4870 will do
If you want to SLI you'd have to get a 6X0 or 7X0 chipset motherboard. Most people swear by the new EVGA 790i FTW mobo, a friend of mine just ordered it. The problem with that board is that it is DDR3 only.
