Motherboard for 1U

    Hi,

I'm currently using a certain model of Gigabyte motherboard for building my 1U servers, but this specific model is becoming outdated. What I'm after now is a mATX board with either no onboard audio, or horizontal lying audio jacks. I have found a few out there but they're over 3 times the price of the Gigabyte one I'm using -- also, since I'm running FreeBSD on the servers, SiS chipsets tend to have a few problems.

For those who don't know; vertical standing audio jacks are about 3mm too tall for 1U servers.. and removing the jacks completely is a nasty job and could ultimately break the motherboard!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've looked around and, you're pretty much limited to boards from Tyan and SuperMicro...most of which are 2+ processor boards for high-end server apps and start at around $400 or so. Retail-wise, I'd say to look at eBay as being the best bet for your needs. If it's low-enough computing power you need, the VIA Epia motherboards with the C3 chip in it might be the ticket.
