I committed the ultimate sin... I bought a comp from Dell about 8 months ago... I know I know, but I was dumb back then. Anyways, I want to upgrade to 1gb of RAM, but I dont know how to tell which RAM is compatible with the mb. I looked at the specs for the comp and I know it can hold 1gb of RAM. The RAM in it right now is 512mb pc2100. I want to upgrade to 1gb pc4000-4200. I was wondering if yhall could help me figure out if my mb could handle that speed.

The mb in it right now is:

    Intel 845GL
    DMA channels: seven
    Interrupt levels: 24APIC mode
    System BIOC chip: 2Mb (256kb)
    System clock: 400mhz data rate

I dont know what most of that means (besides the system clock). Please help me figure out what kind of RAM it can support. Thanks.

Your board supports up to DDR266 (PC2100).

You may try PC4000 in it, but it may not work at that speed.
