    hi,
im looking at getting a MSI K8N neo4 but the review i read for it was on a Msi K8N neo4 platinum. in the review for the platinum they OCed an AMD skt 939 3500+ venice core upto 2.75ghz:D . well i have the exact same cpu but the mobo i was going to buy isnt the platinum version, so would i still be able to OC my 3500+ to 2.75 with the standard neo4 ???

    thanks for any help,

    jason

I can't gaurantee you'd overclock it to exactly 2.75Ghz as overclocking is just luck but the regular Neo4 has the same overclocking abilities, the Platinum just has more features.

  3. I was looking at these motherboard too, whats the differance between the two?

the platinum has firewire and dual lan ports and an extra pci slot, so theres not that much difference between the two.
im thinking of getting the platinum now as it has those extra features and isnt that much more expensive than the standard.

  5. lol thats deffinantly not worth 20 bucks more.

now that you mention it, why pay that bit more for something you probably wont use.

  7. Exactly my point. Those little price increments add up after a while.

If you're not going to use the SLI functions, then the Neo4 Platinum probably isn't worth it to have. The Neo4-F is the no-frills, non-SLI board that should work fine for you.
