    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows a quick answer to this:-

I have a 3 year old gaming rig which is going to progressively get re built over the next year.

Currently the state of play is:

MSI MS-7185 nForce 4 motherboard (sli) (about 4 years old)

    Tagan 420 Watt PSU

    Athlon 64 4800+ dual cores (2.4's)

    Western Digital 250GB HD

    2GB RAM

    8800gt

My question is what goes first? The Motherboard or the graphics card?

I was thinking of getting a new power supply and also the GTX 260 or 280 and putting it with the old motherboard. Just to begin with.

What do you think? Or should I start with the motherboard.....

    Thanks!

GPU/PSU will be worth while to upgrade if you game but the CPU might become the bottleneck as a result (vice versa). Personally I'd wait until you can build a whole new system.

New motherboard means, new CPU unless you stick with the same socket type, RAM might also need changing.
