Due to legal threats by AOL, Gaim has changed their name to Pidgin. In other words, if you're still running Gaim, you're running an obsolete version. Upgrade to Pidgin. I'm using pidgin 2.0.2, and it works perfectly with MSN.
humpf.... i nabbed a .deb from the ubuntu gusty repo's but unfortunately it :swear:ed about dependency's (and i still don't know why they chose the name 'pidgin'). Hmm... upgrade to Gusty or fuckitall and go with Debian Etch (which i assume has pidgin!)
Etch was stabilized when Pidgin was still called Gaim, unfortunately. So Etch gets security patches for Gaim backported from Pidgin, but not "Pidgin" itself. On my Etch systems, I simply did the following: apt-get build-dep gaim (Download Pidgin source files from pidgin.im) (Extract Pidgin source) ./configure make make install apt-get remove gaim Pidgin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For example, "wut u doing mr impotence? lol! hav u evr spok in a pidgin b4? rofl!" ...so you see, "Pidgin" is the perfect name for a messenger client. Actually, I'm surprised it's not already taken. Especially since Pidgin is a homonym for pigeon, the bird commonly used as a messenger...
