So I have an Asus Essentio series desktop that I purchased in early 2010, maybe late 2009 even....and over the weekend I was doing work on blackboard (a student homework site) when it rebooted out of nowhere. When it did, it brought up a blue screen that said something along the lines of "if this is the first time your computer has done this restart it immediately", but it pretty much blinked on and off so I didn't get to read the whole thing. Yesterday morning, I tried booting it up, and it wouldn't load the BIOS or anything, but the power button was lit. I tried to power it down by holding the power button, but it wouldn't do anything, so I switched off the power supply. After switching it back on, it won't do ANYTHING now when I hit the power button. Anything at all. A friend suggested it might have been the power supply, so I tried that, since he had one with the same output he let me use. It didn't work. Does this sound like a bad motherboard or something else? Any advice to troubleshoot?
Very possible to be bad Motherboard or hard drive, In any case it doesn't look good.. Motherboards can /will blow out pretty easy..
