After procrastination and hoping it wouldn't happen, it looks like I need to get my wisdom teeth yanked. Mind you, both my younger brothers have had it done...as well as pretty much everybody else my age or younger. It's set for next Thursday, and needless to say, I'll be too drugged up to care much about doing anything afterwords then. I'll have to get someone to be my driver, as I doubt I'll be in any shape to do so myself. Two are crumbling and impacted, one's coming in at an angle, and the last isn't bad, but since the other three are shot, the odds of this one staying in good condition don't look good. Or as we geeks would say, I get pwn'd by the oral surgeon. The flip side is the drugs...lots of drugs. Anyway, that did kinda hit the suck button on my day. I've got a great dentist, but I hate going to the dentist most of all...I don't know why either. The ironic thing is that I'll be going to the same office for this procedure like I did when they had to yank a baby tooth from me in 2nd grade.
shame I feel for ya B. Its fine during cuz you havent got a clu but afterwards... Make sure you have plenty of myprodol or brufen (paikillers) or the one which works best for you ready for afterwards when thos awsome drugs fade away. Good luck.
Good luck, Big Bro. Dentists are not my favourite visiting places! However, I had my wisdom teeth out a few years ago, and it was a breeze compared to regular dentist visits - much easier than I had anticipated. Bon chance!
that blows, but today seems to be one of those days. But on a brighter side, its not all bad, after there gone you won't have worry about them, like brushing them or anything like that.
Well, most people have to get them pulled anyway. I think my dentist was surprised I wasn't feeling pain. As long as they don't give me penecillin afterwords, I'll be alright. The working plan is to hang loose at my folks so they can keep tabs while I come to. I've seen one of my brothers bounce back pretty quickly, and was pretty mobile coming home. I've seen the other so out of it, I had to help my mom get him in the house.
Well, it went smoothly. 3 came out pretty easily, but they had to do a little work on the one that was coming in at an angle. I'll have to get some prescription mouthwash later on, but I feel pretty good. The only one that really hurts much at all is the one at the bad angle. The other good thing is that it ended up being much cheaper than the high-end quote. It was about $1,100 and my insurance pays half of it. I had to put down 20%, so that wasn't too bad either. I should be able to get around this without dipping too much into savings. If I really need it, they gave me a prescription for Vicodin, but I'm not really feeling too sore, so I don't think I'll need that. Ibuprofen seems to be doing the job just fine. I'm definitely gonna get some ice cream or something since I can't have anything hot today.
