    In case what?

I am not sure the stick can harm anything if it is dead.

I would put it back in the mobo (into the right one obviously... )and try and start the PC.
The worst that can happen is that it won't post.

Guys, if he did infact try to put 184 pin PC2100 in a 168 pin PC100 slot, smelt burning and it also burnt his hand, then most likely the RAM is damaged, probably beyond repair!

My thoughts exactly. You can't add ram that doesn't correlate with pin standard used by you're mobo. Whenever anything electronic starts to burn isn't almost guarenteed that it's ruined. Worst case scenerio is you lost the ram and ruined the dimm slot.

Ah yes my bad. How did you manage to put 184pin DDR into 168pin SDRAM slot? Doesn't it have notches to stop this? Well you've detroyed your RAM, and I wouldn't be sure on your motherboard being ok aswell.

He probably had one end of the stick popped out a little. SDRAM has two notches, unlike DDR which only has one notch. Not to mention the voltage differences, which is probably why it got fried and burnt his hand!

Sounds guffed mate , also your board is probably guffed too.

Wow, glad you got lucky, I wouldn't even try the dimm slot if I were you, only if you really, really need it.
