I have a AC 97 audio device, Which I am not familar with but I did take notice to the fact the tpclan had a very similar if not identical problem to mine. So if this is true I just need to know how to find out what kind of C chip I have or something like that so i know which driver to download. I just got a new hopefully future proof mobo(ASrock) and a new AMD athlon64 3000 proc which works great but i cant listen to my guns blow away strogg in quake 4 or imps in doom 3 so I will stop at nothing to fix this problem. thx
firstly is it onboard sound and if so is it enabled in th BIOS, next physically look at the sound card or mobo and look for a chip that is about 15mm x 10mm and it will say something like "AudioExcel" on the first line and the exact model on the next line e.g. "CMI8738 / PCI"
Downloading the newest sound driver from ASrock did not help. I have downloaded many drivers from C-media and none of them help. Onboard sound is enabled in BIOS. Any other ideas? thx for help
Do you get sound from those speakers with any other file like a MP3 file of 320kbps? If no, did you enable the 6ch sound system from your computer?
The speakers produce no sound. I just tried my speakers on my tv and they work so I know its not the speakers fault. I hope its just a driver issue. If anyone has any ideas besides c-media.com or the latest ASrock audio driver plz share. thx for replyin
Did your sound just Quit within 5 days ? Did you have sound before? You can just try system restore to see if that would solve your problem.. Or install a program called Everest or Belarc identifier,, This will give you some idea about your hardware/sound drivers.
If by swapping the pins you mean in the back of the computer then I have tried every combo possible. I have thought about buying a sound card but I have $0.00 because I just spent it all on mobo and proc but I could have money in a week or so but i dont want to have to wait that long. As far as this problems history I bought a new ASrock dual sata 2 mobo and athlon 3000 proc and the sound just didnt work. I dont think I have any of those programs mentioned but I will download them and get back to you. These speakers worked fine on my old mobo. thx for help guys

I downloaded the driver from your link but it did not work. It got me excited because it said that my new hardware was found but it STILL didnt work. Im going to chech my onboard sound now.
I found 2 chips that might be the one you described the super i/o chip it has a sticker on it and says: 80-mxa 3LO-AOB 12-B12 E8061011B 00540 I also found a chip right next to the onboard sound that says TD1603C0544 sry I cant find anything else. This chip is located about 1in below the onboard audio.
I dont think this is the right chip but this is the only thing i could find. It is about 1 in below the onboard sound. It has a sticker on it that says: 80-MXA 3LO-AOB 12-B12 E80-610118 00540
sorry, i replyed to the wrong post, heres what i put: right iit the chip circles in red, peel the sticker off (its only OEM rebranding) then post what it says on the chip (laser etching)
