Does anyone know what this following sequence is called? 3,6,12,24,48...... I saw somewhere that it is similar to Pisot sequence. Can anyone confirm? Mucho gracias, me hombres!
Its just a standard geometric sequence.... I dont think its got a specific name. Geometric progression - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I did not meant this as a brain teaser. My son was asked to research and come up with the name or term to describe the sequence. I could not find anything online and thought maybe one of you clever cloggs would know.
Ive had another look and cant find a name for it. I found the reference to a Pisot sequence but I wouldnt use that. My final answer is geometric...... a, ar, ar^2, ar^3, ar^4 etc where a = first number (in this case 3) and r = 2. The formula is (nth term) An=ar^n-1 ie the 12 term (when n=12) is 6144 ..... 3x2^11
