I get confused when looking for new video cards. I'm looking for a fast card not for games but for rendering animations from 3D applications. I have £100 - £160 to spend on a video card. So what would be the fastest card in this price group and what are the features that I should be looking out for if rendering is all that I'm interested in. Thanks for your help.
Well around the £100 mark the there are quite a few gaming cards that can do 3d rendering. Radeon 9800pro is ok. As long as the card supports the version of OpenGL you need then it should be ok. If you want to go to your £160 limit then dabs do the Quadro 4 380XGL 64MB AGP card here . It looks ok but its from PNY.Quite a few of them there use the PCI Express bus now, so you'll need a suitable motherobard for them.
