Okay here's the problem. I had Windows XP Pro for about 3 years now. I noticed that it wasn't running like it used to (i.e. I had to turn off the option that let's you see the content of the window while dragging). I downloading SP2 and that still didn't fix the problem. Then all the sudden my CPU went from going slow to not going at all. I wanted to reformat my HD but now when I turn it on, windows won't even load. So :swear: 'ing confused.

Anybody have any suggestions or advice

it sounds like your computer is getting bogged down, might be viruse(s) and/or spyware/adware.
Try something like sygate firewall (not to fix but to help prevent in future) http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
Also try Ad-Aware for removing Adware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
and Spybot Search & Destroy for removing spyware, http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
scan with the 2 scanners and see what they come up with, also install sygate, its a great software firewall and is very effective.

What do you think I should do to fix it?

It sounds to me that your CPU is over heating after the boot. You should try to lower your CPU speed in the BIOS if possible
