    Hi,
Can anyone help a novice . I have an ASUS A8N SLI Delux I have put in a Nvidia 7800 gtx in the PCI express x16 slot. A hard drive and DVD driver, DDR ram 1gb. I have switched on and should be able to get into BIOS. I can't. I have a green light and a beep which does not go away as suggested in the manual and a blank screen. The fan on the graphics card and all other fans appear to work. I am thinking therefore the graphics card must be working. Can anyone tell me what the beep means or what I should do next to try to get it going.

To understand what the beep means, first you will have to tell us what BIOS you have and the exact series of beeps!
    With Award BIOS:
1 long and 2 short beeps indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information.
Any other beep indicates a RAM error.
If there are any other correctable hardware issues the BIOS will display a message.

Could be anything, could be nothing.
But i'd still need to know the exact error code!

Goldy, Pelvis is right. You're going to need to know the Bios and the way it beeps (i.e. two long beeps, one short beep). The long way to do it would be to use your components in different systems one at a time until you find a component that makes another system not work.
