I recently bought a Gigacube Radeon 9600 PRO VIVO. Everything worked ok except that my system freezes when I play games.. So I downloaded and installed the latest catalyst from the ati web site. The problem is that now in device manager it says my display driver is a Radeon 9600 Series. And from what I know, its a big differenve between PRO and Series. Am I wrong? Or is this normal?

    This is normal.

The 9600 series refers to both the 9600 and the 9600 Pro. It does that with mine too, you shouldn't worry about that.

Maybe you can download a program like Rage3d Tweak to see how the core/mem are clocked just to make sure, but again, you shouldn't worry about that.

OK man, thanks. What scared me is that with the older driver it showed Radeon 9600 PRO and I thought maybe the new drivers arent compatible because its a Gigacube card powered by Ati. But it seems to work fine so I guess you're right. Thanks again

Check that link out. It shows the differences of a ton of video cards, so you can see how the 9600 and 9600 Pro differ. While it varies from chip to chip, the difference between the plain 9600 and 9600 Pro is simply the clock speeds on the graphics chip (core) and the memory.
