Well it appears as if Netscape is going to try make a comeback with the recently announced Netscape 9; due for release in the next few months. The browser will be cross platform compatible, with planned releases for Windows, Linux & MacOS. Netscape 8, the current version, only runs on Windows. Netscape 9 will be a standalone browser, so it won't include mail or instant message. It's most likely going to be based on Firefox and it remains to be seen whether they'll implement the IE engine as well. What's interesting is that Netscape has it's own in-house developers again. Netscape 8 was completely outsourced because AOL sacked the Netscape team after they released 7.2. It remains to be seen whether the browser will have much impact. Netscape has been dead for years. I hope that the new version will be much faster then the previous one, because the loading times from the previous version really where a nightmare.
I was running NS7.1 for awhile, but then they made a bunch of changes in NS8, and I went to FireFox (using Opera now).
