    Hello,

I'm sure you get lots of similar queries here, sorry if I repeat stuff - but I'm so clueless when it comes to computers that I don't know where to find this info!

I have a desktop computer which runs windows XP and is connected to NTL broadband internet through a little silver box (which i think is a modem, but don't quote me). Connected to this computer is everything under the sun - my camera, printer, scanner, extra hard drive, music system, etc etc etc.

Then I have a laptop. It runs windows 2000 professional. It's apparently 'internet ready' whatever that mean - but I think this may only be for a dial up connection.

I need to connect the two. It needs to be a wireless connection if at all possible and it's totally vital that I can fileshare. If there is a way without huge ammounts of cost to mean I can share the internet connection, printer etc etc then that would be great.

I am moving house soon (possibly changing internet service provider), and in about 6 months will be getting a new laptop - so if whatever bit(s) of equipment I buy would be tranferable when the changes happen that would be great and save me buying more stuff later.

Can anyone help me out? Let me know what I need to buy. Feel free to ask questions if I havn't given all the necessary information. Thankyou!

I don't know. It's an IBM thinkpad one, and it's a few years old. I don't know all the specs of it because it was given to me. How could i find out of it has one of these 802.1g connections?
