setup looks pretty sweet.... that should be fine, just plug in the stuff, install a few drivers and you're on your way to gaming haven.
I`m replacing the 64 3500 with a 64 3800 - Overclockers UK Socket AM2 Gd decision?? EDIT. No im not, im going for the 7600gt OC instead!
Hmm...I`ve only ever used nVidia so i know i havent experience ati, but i rather go with something i know than i dont..if ya get what i mean even if its soo illogical better the devil you know eh? Personally I would go for the 3800 and the standard 7600GT. The CPU will be slightly more future proof and you could always OC the gfx card yourself. Good luck.
Think i`ll go with the 3800 and the XXX Edition 7600GT..the 3800 is only £35 more than the 3500...i`ll splash out!
If you are looking for the best games performance (just guessing ) then it might be an idea to sacrifice 1GB of RAM for now. You'll save yourself about £50-60 which I would put into a better gfx card. I found this on ebuyer :- ebuyer.com - 7800GTX 1GB of RAM should run anything you throw at it for now and I think the difference in performance between the 7600GT and 7800GTX would be far greater than the difference between a 7600GT with 1GB or 2GB RAM.
Hey, Cheers for the reply! Its just that i use photoshop ALOT, design websites etc. Also some 3D progs which require a lot of mem. The only games i play excessively is CS:S, HL2 with a bit of DOD:S and a few others, but im sure the XXX 7600GT OC will be able to cope v. well with these games. I think for my use, the 2GB would be more practical. Thanks for the input tho, much appreciated!
scan don't have the case, OEM OS, a cheap TFT, the CPU is about £80 more..lol OC was very nicely priced.
The setup is fine with the 3800+ and 7600 GT. That 7600 GT won't have any problems running any of those Source engine games, and should provide great performance and high settings. The only thing I have a real concern about is the modular power supply. From what I've heard, they aren't the greatest and they don't provide a clean flow of power because of the small resistance caused by the connecters to the supply itself. Though negligible, it's just something I would look over to make sure. The last thing I have a gripe about is that case... Ew. Looks pretty ugly in my eyes, but I guess it's all about personal preference at that point.
that case is pretty good...to me. I suggest you should get an SLI board. it's good to have upgrade options in the future, especially if you're a gamer. i suggest you drop the 2 gig to 1 and get a 7900GT
