I put that ASUS up there 'cause that's what i have and it is working out quite nicely!
DFI Ultra Nforce 4 SLI Motherboard - best on market, however you'll need a PCI-e graphics card as it does not use AGP If you do want AGP go for a: Abit AV8 3RD EYE or a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (2 top performing motherboards for AGP&939) As for the Dual Channel - it's upto you, if you want overclocking memory get some G.Skill PC4000 or PC4400 (it runs @ 2-2-2-5 @ DDR 400 (PC3200)) If you want normal good quality memory get: GeIL Value Range memoyr (2x256MB Dual Channel or 2x512MB Dual Channel (or more)) If you want good quality memory without overclocking - still get G.Skill PC4000 or PC4400 - as its the same price as Corsair XL 2-2-2-5 PC3200 but it can safely do 266/277MHz depending on whether you get PC4000/PC4400 and u can overclock it more..
It is all about the hook up, otherwise I wouldn't have given amd64 3500 to my dad, but I figured he need an upgrade, it was a steal, but no I am facing this dilemma!
