Hi everyone, as you can see this is my first post :D

Anyway. Im looking at buying a new system for under or around £500. I have browsed a few sites and this is what i have came up with.

    On www.pcspecialist.com
ok so here are the specs:

    Processor - AMD Athlon 64bit 3000 512kb L2 Cache
    Memory - 1024Mb DDR400 PC3200
    Motherboard - Asus A8V deluxe 8x AGP
    Memory (hard disc) - 80Gb, 7200rpm, 8mb cache
    Graphics card - 256Mb Geforce 6600 8x AGP
Sound Card - High end onboard 8 channel sound
    Power supply - Silent 400W PSU + 80mm fan

Basically thats all the main stuff, but theres a dvd rewriter and other basic stuff with it. That all comes too £489 inc VAT.
Am i wrong to think that, that is quite a good price?
My main use for it will be for games (battlefield, Cod2).
Is this worth it? Shall i get it?
(sorry for the length :p )

I'm no expert in the New Build/Upgrade Advice Forum, but seen as I am the only other person logged on at moment, i'll answer for you! :)

Quite simply, that rig will run most things. I don't think you will have any problems at all. It's pretty future proof, and you will have no problem migrating to Windows Vista or Linux 64-BIT editions.

You haven't specified what brand of RAM, Hard Drive and Sound Card you want.

I'd recommend you buy NEC, Samsung or Kingston RAM

Look for a Maxtor, Samsung or Western Digital Hard Drive

Check out M-Audio's range of sound cards
