Hey, stumbled on this site while doing some research on upgrading my current computer - I'm giving it new guts! Here are the 4 parts that I plan on using: $130 MOBO - Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX3 A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards $120 CPU - Newegg.com - AMD Phenom 8750 Toliman 2.4GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Triple-Core Black Edition Processor - Processors - Desktops $66 RAM - Newegg.com - Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory $55 HDD - Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives All seem to initially work together, but I've heard WAY too many horror stories to just click the "BUY" button without asking around. I was hoping for some advice about this setup, maybe a few tips about OCing with these parts, as well (I'm not into OCing right now, but from the newegg comments, I could get quite a lot extra out of the CPU with some fairly safe modifications). Also, I have an nVidia 8800 GTS Video card currently, would it be worth it to buy a second one and do SLI? Here's the second one: $110 8800 GTS - Newegg.com - MSI NX8800GTS-T2D320E-HD-OC GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards This will be my second system build, I built my current computer 4 years ago (time for an upgrade, yeah?) for 600 bucks. This upgrade should cost me ~320, or ~460 if I go for the SLI. Notes: - I have a 500GB external I use for backup, so I really only need enough space to install all the necessary games, and to store the videos/music I'm currently watching/listening to. Everything else can be stored. - Packing a 450w PSU currently. That'll be enough, right? I apologise if I've broken some rule, please don't give me suggestions that brick my comp :-P
