Hello People, My old power supply stopped working so I purchased a replacement. The old was an Eagle Power Supply 400w, and the new is an Eagle 500w. The problem I have since installing the power supply is the computer randomly restarting. Perhaps the power stops and then is quickly restored? I also seem to notice a relationship between this powering-off and the graphics card. I can't be certain it is related to this, but it appears that as hardware acceleration is used for a 3D game, the computer powers-off quicker. If I then restart the machine and use 3D software again, the computer will power off after an even shorter period of time than before. And if I were to keep restarting and repeating that, the time it would take to restart becomes successively shorter. This problem only happens since installing the new power supply. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance.
Welcome to hardware forums ARTAdventures! If You believe it is the PSU then (if possible) substitute it with one from another computer and see if the same still happens. Is there any clicking coming from inside the case? Your HDD might be dieing... if so get your documents backed up fast! (Happened to me... i didnt know what the clicking was and ignored it, i just kept on re-installing windows trying to stop the random restarts! )
I've currently got a similar problem except instead of my computer restarting it just turns off completely and ive had my psu for about 10 months. First i thought it was the gpu overheating but that was all ok.
