Ok...I finally bought a 50 foot coax to go from my DTV box to my Radeon ATI. I can watch TV on my pc but only the channel that is currently on at the DTV box, I cannot switch channels using the ati software at all. I have to go into the bedroom and change the channel. Is there anyway around this? I ran the setup that checked all the channels and it said it didnt find any, so somehow the DTV box is not allowing me to change channels at the pc.

    what's DTV ?
    Direct TV ?
I'm not sure how they work but I have ExpressVu and with them, you can only watch one channel per box. So the same channel appears on every tv. Maybe there's just no way of doing what you want to do.

I think the proble is because your source is the dtv box, you can only change channels using dtv box. you could buy one of those link systems, which sends the remote signal downstairs, which allows you to change channels while you are in your room!

I think your right - you can only change the channel on the direct TV box. I have tried to move that box so its in the hall and I am trying to aim the remote down the hall at it....I still have to get up thou :)
I have a Dell 2.67, 512mg ddr2700 with onboard sound. and I can't make the pc play sound from the tv show I'm watching. It plays everything else except for the TV show sound. I have searched the site and I see nowhere on it for a solution for onboard sound problems. Even when I capture a TV show, it does not play back sound either.

does the sound play on all the other stuff you have on your pc? games? mp3? maybe you have incorrect settings, try going to the sound options in control panel and see that everything looks right!

Yes, sounds works for everything else on my PC. I have checked all the settings and everything is on and at its loudest.

I think you might need a "audio in" lead from the dtv box to the card, I think currently its only getting a video source only, no sound source?

Dosen't the coax cable coming from the wall into the dtv box and then out of the dtv box into the tv carry both sound and video? It comes out of the dtv box to the tv in a single coax with both sound and video and I have just unplugged it from the back of the tv and plugged it into my video card instead.

coax cable out of wall---> dtv box---> coax cable out of dtv box--> back of tv

    now its..

coax cable out of wall-->dtv box-->coax cable out of dtv box-->AIW video card (tv tuner coax hookup)
