Yeah, that's a classic example of someone from the ID 10 T department.

Another one was where someone took their brand new 6800 Ultra (or some high-end $500+ video card), snipped off part of the PCIe connector to fit it in an AGP slot. That was apparently some advice from a (very stupid or mean) friend. They wondered why it didn't work.

Unfortunately, I think he was. There are people out there that simply didn't educate themselves, like the poor SOB in that thread. Kids, electronics and water don't mix. Water, by itself, is non-conductive. However, the little impurities that get in there give positive and negative points for electricity to jump to. Even remember that little bit from high school science, I would think that you'd be well aware of the normal circumstances of electronic devices and the water you're used to.

I remember seeing that, they were told to cut off the extra bit as it wasn't needed for their slot or something, I laughed so hard when I read that, I hope the person who told the owner of the card to do that had their gonads cut off for being so damn stupid.

LMAO, that water cooling pc looks well wierd.

Lol i remember seing the one were he snipped it off, its because he thought you had to do that for it to work in a PCI slot lol, the card was a 7800GTX lol, i would of thought it would of been able to have been glued back on tho.

You can't simply glue it back on as the tracks connecting the metal contacts on the card (the metal contacts that go into the slot) were severed, so you'd have to re-solder them, but by doing that you add more resistance, and could possibly reduce the performance of the card (assuming it even worked)

Nope! It was a very well-done joke. Look at the very bottom post on page #5 of that thread or go here directly. I think the results on that poll don't reflect the reality. People must not be voting honestly. Seemed to me like almost all of the posters except a couple did believe him at least at some point.

um, so your basis is on people not believing him, if you read the first couple posts, he had a friend on those boards who vouched for him, as well he had made previous posts and, i really don't think he was joking.
