if i download something and it has an nfo file in it, i can never read the nfo file because it keeps saying its unrecognised or somthing, is there any program that can open nfo files?

yeh thats because it opens with some microsoft product called system information or something. Right click it and open with notepad and you can read it :)
Good info is stored in them like you i also spent a long time puzzling how to open them :)

Or if you want to view them the way they were meant to be seen you can get the Damn NFO Viewer.

Gee, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that .nfo file came bundled with some warez. That's not what's going on though, right? Right?

Correction, there's nothing wrong with downloading warez, but there's plenty wrong with using them.

I've had plenty of .nfo files, none in warez, just been downloading games from Bittorrent that I've lost the disc for, Max Payne 2 for example, someone stole my play disc so I downloaded it.

    hmmm

why would someone steal your playdisk?, most proberbly they would be some jipo and not have the game.

I dunno, all I can think is they put in Warcraft 3 disc of their own, put Max Payne 2 in some box of theirs and forgot to take it out. MP2 was in the drive before the party and not after, no other way to see it.

'NFO' files have been around forver, and are usually unicode which contains ASCII art of some kind. I was just giving you guys a hard time. ;) If you had been talking about warez, myself or another mod would have already closed this thread.

ASCII art is really cool stuff. I find it in every nfo file I open.
