No sound in Alien Arena 2007

    I can't seem to get any sound in Alien Arena 2007. I get the following error

    Code:
    /dev/dsp: Broken pipe
Could not toggle.
    But sometimes I get:

    Code:
    /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy
Could not open /dev/dsp
    Rebooting doesn't solve it. I've tried typing 'killall artsd' but it doesn't do anything either.

    Try using ALSA instead of OSS. Also, set ARTSD to use ALSA as well. OSS is depreciated in the Linux Kernel for a reason. :)

    How can I tell whether I am using ALSA or OSS? How would I go about removing OSS completey? Would removing OSS break compatibility with some programs?
