I have replaced the motherboard on my PC with the ASRock P4VM890, using all the existing hardware. The CPU fan which was very quiet once it had booted up with the failed Medion motherboard, now seems to be running at full speed constantly and the noise is driving me crazy. I have entered the bios settings and it is showing 'n/a' against the cpu fan speed. I have also tried using speedfan to try to reduce the fan speed and consequently the noise but that hasn't worked. Apart from that the system works fine. Any suggestions?
is the fan power by the mobo or is it powered from a molex power connector (is it a variable speed fan)[ot]if it's powered from a molex, you need to get a variable speed fan that connects to the mobo[/ot]BTW: most CPU fans are variable speed (if connected to the mobo)
good idea :good:[ot]personally i've not heard of them, with not much playing you could find the optimum fan speed for your system[/ot]
Thanks, The fan used to run much slower/quieter when it was connected to the previous Medion motherboard, so I think it is a variable speed fan. Forgive my ignorance but I'm not quite with you on the mobo or molex power connector. The fan is currently powered from the motherboard with a 3 pin connector lead.
