Ok, I'm sure some of you have ran accross this problem at 1 point or another. A laser mouse starting to cut out. Like in the middle of doing something the laser just stops responding, Now i dunno if that's just because i use it so much or because of the drivers.
Every Laser mouse I've had has done this, and i've always just bought a new one. Now I was starting to think that maybe it's logitech set point drivers, But this also happened with 2 of the microsoft intelimice. the 1.1 and 3.1. The logitech mice that have done this are the mx518 and the g5. Now for the g5 which i have now, I've noticed the duration seems very short, of the mouse not working. But then the dpi changes back to default. So its as if i just plugged it in. Are these the drivers? Or do they just fuck up after a while?

try a different usb port. ive seen this problem happen and changed the usb port but it still didnt work, its still work a try
 
JohnLynn, I use a Steelpad QcK+ if you're not familiar, it is an all black cloth mousepad.

izzy, I Guess I will try a different port for this mouse. I remember doing that with the microsoft mouses, it was only a temporary remedy at best. But we will see.

Also my motherboard is an ABIT KN8-ULTRA. Maybe some of you are familiar with a known problem with the USB ports on this mobo. I just got this motherboard too.
 
Try fiddeling around with the speed of your mouse. If its too high then reduce it little bit.

Yup! The other day, I put my mouse on full speed. Which caused my mouse to behave inappropriately.
 
It's weird that every optical/laser mouse you've used has done that as I've used nothing but for years and I've only had a few that have ever gone retarted. Can you tell me does the mouse actually lose power when it cuts out, or does it just go non-responsive but remains powered?
 
I'm pretty sure it loses all power, the laser goes off completely and the dpi lights on the top go out, and when it comes back window does the "recognizes new hardware thing" I tried switching USB ports and uninstalling the setpoint drivers, and it still does it.
