Even thought I'm very-very thankful for the information people provided to me here regarding desktops and it was very-very useful... I've just configured Dell's Inspiron 1520 on $1564 (Dell's Inspiron 1720 goes on $2474) and I'm confused, because a desktop got around $2000 for me. To say honestly - I like notebooks much more, than desktops and I think people will migrate on them sooner or later.

So... I'm interested, what will YOU choose. Please, vote. :)

P.S. My old best friend burned out when I dropped a tea with sugar on it. It was HP Compaq nx7010. Nothing special, but was great for surfing the internet. Specialists saying it's a motherboard and that it costs $800. That's maybe why I have this feeling about notebooks. Anyway, what whould you suggest to me - a desktop or a notebook?

Edite: my vote goes for Notebook & Windows Vista.

Desktop & XP at a real push, laptop if you *need* to take it with you... but using a laptop on your lap really isnt good for your neck

    ...ask my chiropractor :(

I've also lost half a spinal disc between L4 & L5, see the wiki article... so finding this out has kinda bummed me out

I feel sorry for your spinal discs... by the way, I've got my spine bad after years too. The first I was traveling to Bulgaria from Ukraine (where I live) by the bus... and my father is so big for these seats (he's a lifter in the past), that I was sitting with him and got sleeping half-turned. To the same side I've got my spine when I was playing Age of Empires 3 on 15.4 inch laptop and the keys of up, down, left and right how you know at the right and I've got it to the right like that, lol. Anyway, everyone should do exercises to keep health in a tip-top shape.

    Peace.
