I have this old Shuttle AK31v3.1 motherboard from an old pc that I used to have and I am currently rebuilding it into just a computer for just common use nothing extreme. I bought a new case for it and I ran into the problem that it is obviously not ATXv12 compliant, even though the power supply connector fits on the motherboard it has the extra 4 pins on the main power from the power supply that doesn't fit into the motherboard but it just overlaps like it was made to fit motherboards like that. As far as I know the extra 4 pin connector from the power supply is used for cpu power up. I can't even get any power to the motherboard at all. I was wondering if I am just going to have to downsize the power supply and find one that is made to match the motherboard specifications. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

it sound like you've got an ATX 2.0 motherboard & an ATX 2.2 PSU, you can get an adapter but it' not really considered to be a long term solution, you'd be better getting an ATX 2.0 PSU, adapter here
the extra 4 connections are for a PCIe card, but before you buy an adapter make sure that 4 connectors are not detachable from the existing connector because some manufacturers did make the power connector with 4 detachable connections[ot]just leave the 4 pin connector trailing, as it is not required, if it is detachable[/ot]
