    Hey guys,
Recently i did some work with my computer so i had to unplug everything at the back, this including my headphones which are always connected to the on board sound. Putting my computer back together (i only unplugged my front usb's, but even to do that i need to take my computer out of where it is and unplug everything) i put my headphones in the correct ports.

My microphone works fine (on the same headphones) but for some reason the sound isnt working. Just to test i tried every single sound port on the back and no luck, i really cant understand whats happened unless i broke the port. But . .. im not very heavy handed so i don't understand.

Any idea why it would stop working?

    Any help is appreciated.

*edit* I also checked to see if the headphones worked on something else, they do. I also tried a different pair of headphones on the computer... still no luck.

very odd, stupid but have you tried looking at the volume controlls in windows sound panel. if all looks ok and not muted try reinstalling the sound motherboard drivers

if you have a "windows" keyboard press and hold the windows key on the keyboard and press "pause /break" this will open system properties, click the Hardware tab and then "Device manager"

Scroll down to the Sound, Video and Game controllers there should be a list of drivers in there, if there is nothing in there that resembles sound look for a yellow question mark, if the question mark resembles anything to do with sound then the drivers have become currupt, right click the sound driver and click update driver, you may need the motherboard drivers to reinstall them

if you dont see anything to do with sound then insert the motherboard drivers into the drive and install the sound drivers

    Thanks for the reply.
Upon downloading and re-installing my sound drivers, i thought to myself its time i fixed my bios (it had not been functioning porperly for a while)
I updated the bios and everything seemed fine, untill i restarted and now i have a really expencive paperweight with no clue how to fix it.

Thanks again for the audio tech. I thought i'd just give you a little feed back as to what ive done to my pc xD.
