overclocking 7600gt

i just downloaded nvTUNE to fiddle with my graphics card anyway i went to manual overclocking and didnt do anything drastic just clicked on the detect optimal frequencies and it changes from

core-560 up to core-607
memory 700 up to memory-802

so before i accept will this be ok as the syteem has come u with these iv not adjusted anything also would i notice the difference game play wise.

also as i guess these are the safest setting how far could a 7600gt be pushed safely beyond the above.

As long as the temperature doesn't get too hot you should be ok, sometimes the "detect optimal frequencies" option results in different clock values and shouldn't always be relied upon.

You can play a game with those settings and if there aren't any artifacts you can keep playing at those speeds, but if you see any flashing textures, artifacts or other visual anomalies, lower the speeds to a safer value. The 7600 has a built in temperature sensor so keep an eye on that to be sure you're safe.

A similar card from the same manufacturer might overclock better or worse than yours, so it's hard to tell how high you could at least expect your card can be oc'ed

Personally I've never had much success with graphics card overclocking. My attempts usually resulted in the system locking up under heavy load, so it was probably due to the heat.
 
when i do start to overclock my gpu do i increase both the clockspeed and the voltage or just one which is the best way to do it . i no about backing it off once i see abnormalities in game or something . also iv seen some zalman gpu fans i presume as these are alot bigger than the standard fan if i got one of these it could overclock further than on its stock fan correct.
 
personally i don't have much actualy experience in overclocking, i've messed with the cpu and usually you stop when your system keeps restartting. Yes an aftermarket cooler is almost necessary for overclocking, as it cools the GPU/CPU down below regular levels, and increasing voltages, speeds, will increase the amount of heat, you probably already knew that but anyways. It would be a good idea to write down your starting settings, and increase bus speeds, voltages, clock speeds, memory speeds, slowly so you don't do any real damage, and it will be a lot easier to test your results as well. In any case, reading a guide is always a good idea versus going in blind

just downloaded coolbits for nvidia overclocking and its a reg file anyone know were i put it. so i can use it
 
Coolbits can be enabled by just double clicking on the icon itself, it should prompt you if you want to add Coolbits.reg to the registry or not.

When done, just open up Nvidia's control panel and you'll see a new item visible callen "clock frequency settings"

You must accept or decline :D some agreement before you can start increasing the speeds on your core and memory.

Good luck, keep an eye on those temps if you're really going for it, don't forget to use the guide I linked to in another post.
