Hello. I just bought this CPU yesterday, and I must say, it's doing fantastic in some games! Now, I would like to overclock, but I have no clue how. Here are the full details of the CPU : Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz (630) - Prescott- LGA 775. 2MB Cache Bus Speed : 798.1 MHz My motherboard : P5S800-VM -------------------------------------------------------- Can some one please give me tips on how to overclock this CPU? (If there is any more information you require, please just let me know! ) Thank you.
Well, uhmm when overclocking NEVER use software, always do overclocking through the bios, usually when upping the clock speed your memory goes up too, i cant remember what its like oveclocking pentium 4's, but when i overclock my AMD cpu, there is a CPU/Memory ratio, i change this to alter the memory speed, also, overclock the cpu in 5mhz increments, when your at a speed that seems to be unstable, slightly bump up the voltage, i would reccomend getting a decent cooler for your cpu too. I know that with my pentium 4 3ghz and Arctic Cooler 4, if my motherboard was not faulty, i could proberbly get that thing up to 3.8ghz, there preety good overclockers, but they run very hot does the prescott cores, mine at idle was 52 degrees, but that could of been an error in the temperature sensors. There are Various guides on the internet on how to overclock, there is a thread somewere in this forum on overclocking, ah here it is Big B's overclocking & cooling stick
