Hi all in the know out there in the world, I have a slight problem,i was hoping that somebody out there might have an answer to a question i have? This is can i use an Intel P4 3GHZ 3.00GHZ 1M 800FSB SOCKET 478 CPU, on an ASUS P4PE MOBO? If anyone has an answer for me please reply. Thank you, regards Martin.
Hi Did you check the spec of the motherboard? It states that it supports P4 S478 up to 3.06Ghz. However it was really designd for the northwood core, running at 533Hz bus speed and processors with 512Kb L2 cach. The board sports the Intel 845PE. Even if possibe, which I do not think it will due to the low bus speed, personally, I think it will be a complete waste of time planting a prescott into this motherboard.
Hi Sabashuali,Thanks for the answer.Just what i wanted to know. I have the standard 2.8 GHz P4 on the board that it came with. It was just that i pulled the 3.0 GHz from another machine. If i do decide to upgrade it then i know that its a northwood core that i'm looking for,any thing up to 3.06GHz. Thanks again regadrs Martin.
