Hello, everybody. A while ago i bought me a USB 2 Parallel + Serial port adaptor, which used to work fine on my current windows installation. I used it to print on parallel and get customized data on serial ports. For some reason now the LPT1 parallel port does not appeat anymore in the Add New Printer wizard, and i cannot install printers on the parallel port anymore. This is 100% a software problem as i have multiple installations of windows xp on an external hdd and on all of them, as soon as i install the device (attached to the same USB port and the same computer) it works fine. As soon as i load up the main copy of win xp on my machine, the LPT1 port is not available for installing printers. The port itself is present in the hardware list. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, i tried removing all printers and reinstalling them all... dunno what to do anymore. There are certainly some parts in the registry that somehow got corrupt, but cannot figure them out. Any ideas ? OS : Windows XP PRO / SP3
