    Hi,
these forums have exploded since I was here last!

Ive got an 80gb drive all as one partition but want decrease the size to 70gb so I can have a second bootable partition of 10gb.

Ive been using partition magic 8 to do this but when I reboot the computer it only flashes up the partition changes screen (just before it enters windows) then goes, when I go to my computer I find the resize changes haven't been made.

Does anyone know what might be going on? It worked in the past when I wanted to install Linux. Ive since formatted the whole drive. Will this be something to do the drive or is it windows or PM8 being a bitch?

Hope someone can help, I just got Vista from the microsoft website and want to give it a try.

    Many Thanks
    Rik

    The forums grown a lot!

i've had problems with PM 8 for some reason. So I'd recommend Paragon partition manager, I've used it once after I gave up on PM and its been fine.

i use PartitionExpert now from Acronis bassically cos its cheaper than PM, their new replacement is Disk Director 10

EDIT: and its available for download and you can burn it to a CD & set your BIOS to boot from CD
